Peer To Peer Network in XP

I have installed a Belkin wireless adapter on my PC tower
with XP Pro.

I have installed a Belkin notebook adapter on my Compaq
Notebook with XP Home.

The network in set up as Ad Hoc.....Peer To Peer.

I have assigned TCP addresses to both and each can
sucessfully ping the other's address.

My Network Places is in the Start Menu of the Notebook
and on the Desktop. It can see and access the shared
folders on the PC Tower.

My Network Places is missing from the Start Menu on the
PC Tower, but it is on the Desktop.....however the Entire
Network option is missing and I can only get an empty
window. It cannot see nor access anything on the Notebook.

The Simple Network option in checked in both computers.

I tried using XP's Connection Wizard, but that did not
make the situation better.

Where am I going wrong? Thanks

I thought I would share the resolution to my problem.

Win XP Service Pack 1 seems to have my Network Places
operating again on a peer to peer wireless network.

But this is the real kicker.....a cordless phone in the
same room was running interference with my desktop and
notebook wireless adapters. As soon as the cordless phone
was off and no longer generating signals, the network
worked beautifully.
