It seems OK on my machine (although I don't use it in preference to
Adobe). But why would you want to 'Save'? Foxit is only a reader. You
are saving a file that already exists.

No.
When I use my browser to view a .pdf file on the Internet, I often
want to save a copy of it on my HDD (like any other page) and Foxit
has a File\Save option - but it doesn't actually 'save'. I've often
had to delve into the TIF cache and get it from there after realising
this. By contrast, Adobe Reader File\Save *does* work.

Since this issue doesn't arise very often and I now know it exists,
it's not a big problem and is worth tolerating to have the benefit of
a much smaller install size and faster program than Adobe.
However, Foxit has the 'Typewriter' facility, but while you CAN print
the document with the text you add, the text doesn't show up on a
'saved' document. You can get round this by 'printing' to another PDF
file using Primo, Cute etc. The added text 'sticks' to the new document.

I've not tried this feature yet.

What is the best freeware for pdf reading - Something that works well and
dosn't take forever to load like adobe.

I don't know if anybody has mentioned this, but I'm not going to review
the whole thread to find out.

You can reduce very greatly the time it takes for Acrobat Reader to
start by using Adobe Reader SpeedUp (donationware) listed first on this
page:
