PDF Files

Each time I try to open a *.pdf link from my browser (IE
6.0.2), a new window opens but the page is blank - only a
small generic icon in the upper left corner of the page.
The icon doesn't do anything. This happens also with
*.pdf files which come via email and link to a web site.
The blank page does not generate an error message. Also,
I am unable to "save as target" is grayed out.

Is this an IE issue - if so, what is the fix?

thanks for your assistance.

Hi Susan,

Are you using Windows XP and happen to have SP2 installed?

For the other issue:

Save Target As and Print Target Commands Are Unavailable

If you have installed XP SP2 then your security setting
for IE have probably been changed to prohibit active
content to run in your browser. Go to Tools>Internet
Options>Advanced and scroll down to the Security section
and check the "Allow active content to run in files on My
Computer." We had a similar problem with both
embedded .pdf files and also with collapsing outlines,
and this fixed it.

Do you have the latest Acorbat?

Have you checked your Acrobat
settings? There is a setting in their
Preferences (under Edit menu) to
allow displaying of PDF files in the
browser.

follow your instructions, but didn't have the option you
mentioned. Help!

I fixed it by deleting Adobe 6.0.2 and all other Adobe
readers I had and reinstalled it. It works fine now.

thanks for all of your help.

I'm not Susan, but yes, I'm running XP with SP2 installed
and have the pdf problem. It does seem that it started to
occur after installing SP2. I've tried everything
suggested on the Adobe and MS sites with no luck. What's
the answer? My company uses a lot of pdf's on our
portal, and this is a real pain.
