At this point, and since this question has been discussed ad nauseum
lately in this group, I can say with much confidence, no. To the best of
my knowledge, there isn't isn't a freeware .pdf editor that can open
existing .pdf files.

Somebody, please prove me wrong.

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett or Doc (who uses sock puppets)
for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware,
demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware, spyware, time-limited
software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.

But if what you say is so, it's adware, and adware is NOT freeware.

The free, opensource drawing program Cenon can open up a .pdf and edit
it and save out a .eps which can then be distilled back into a .pdf. If
you're running it on Mac OS X (or OPENSTEP w/ pStill.app, available
free for NeXT/OPENstep) you can print to a .pdf directly.

Runs on Mac OS X, OPENSTEP or GNUstep on Linux.

Don't know why I'm mentioning it again, when I brought it up twice
already here.

adware is NOT freeware.

yes of course....but he wont find anything out there better than this...
unless he pays...

its better to give him a choice than to not speak at all.

Im just trying to help.

Glad you did William because, of the 3 posts, this is the only one I've
read.

thanks,

That's an old argument and it doesn't work because you don't know if
somebody else is going to come up with a freeware solution. This group
is called alt.comp.freeware because the only kind of freeware that's
supposed to be discussed or recommended here is freeware (although
donationware, liteware and some other kinds are generally considered to
be okay.) Aware is a big no-no here. If everybody started recommending
non-freeware solutions, this group will lose it's effectiveness. Please
try to stay on topic regarding software.

Thanks, but unless I'm missing something:

"You have the choice: For the platforms Apple, Linux and OpenStep, you
can download ready to use packages of Cenon."

and:

"Platforms
Linux
Apple
OpenStep 4.2
Sun and other systems with GNUstep"

it doesn't appear to run on the Windows platform. Of course, I'm only
assuming that the OP is running Windows. Maybe I'm wrong on both counts.

I am not everyone else.
I am 100% sure there is no freeware PDF editor for windows.

Thus my advice is good and I will give it whether you like it or not.
Another poster thanked me.

Now stop trolling, flaming, blaming....
I dont have time for you, I am too busy helping people.

if you dont like me or my attitude please kill file me and leave me alone.

No, you're sure not. But then, who is?
I am 100% sure there is no freeware PDF editor for windows.

Although I have to agree with this, there's no reason why you couldn't
offer to take it to email or to another, more appropriate newsgroup.
Thus my advice is good

Not for this group, not if you're recommending non-freeware here.
and I will give it whether you like it or not.

And I will continue to object every time you do so. Well, that is.. I
would if I wasn't killfiling you.
Another poster thanked me.

And many others wouldn't.
Now stop trolling, flaming, blaming....

I beg your pardon? I'll continue to post as I like. Neither you nor
anybody else is going to tell me that I can or can't post.
I dont have time for you, I am too busy helping people.

Which translates to "undermining the effectiveness of this group."
if you dont like me or my attitude please kill file me and leave me alone.

Since you continue to top-post in this group in spite of the fact that
everybody else is bottom-posting, and since your last reply placed the
entirety of the previous posts below your signature line so that quoting
was a problem for me, yes... I'll be glad to add you to my killfile. If
you're not a troll, you're definitely a problem poster and you deserve
to be on that list. So.....

*PLOINK*

Wish granted.

This isn't a Windows-specific group, and no one specified Windows until
John Jay Smith did _after_ I made my post.

Description: ``Free software that was intended to be free.''

be wrong about the OP using Windows.

You are correct on both counts.

It would be nice if everybody started off their posts by mentioning
which OS they use, but frankly I don't see that ever happening.

Hopefully, there might someday be a Windows port of Cenon.

John, topposting & placing is not only a bad behavior of J.J.Smith but
of some others. I argumented against this "special" behavior to J.J.S.
but he is ignorant and unlearnable.

BTW: another bad behavior is fullquoting (NOT shorten the quotings as
far as possible)...

P

Peter Seiler

John Jay Smith - 29.04.2006 13:48 :

this time you did not use a sigline so all your ~100! unnecessary
fullquoting (snipped) is not placed below your sigline as usual. Did you
change your "special" behavior placing all fullquoting below your
sigline? Congratulation. First step. And now, within a second step, try
to avoid fullquoting in general and shorten the quoting as far as possible.

Another recommendation:

OE-QuoteFix is a great piece of software enhancement for OE
since it actually has an option for bottom-posting. In addition it
color-quotes conversations and corrects the breaking up of lines. If
Quotefix had been incorporated into OE from the beginning it would
prevent a majority of gripes non-OE users have.

But this is up to you.

We know, and while you continue to ignore the "freeware" part of this
newsgroup people will continue to comment when your posts are "off
topic". Whether you like it or not.
