i think the dust and the fingerprint may have somehting to do with it ;), oh and theres a nice scratch on it aswell

i've seen the see through cover mod but i've never heard of people putting neons in one
 
Lol i was kidding... its a really old Quantum Fireball from a broken PC... thought i would open it up and have a look...

You know the head spins so low to the actual physical disk that its relative to a Jumbo Jet flying 3 feet from the ground, and *ONE" spec of dust is the equivalent to a sky-scraper...

Thats why it's so important that HDD's remain airtight...

My ICT teacher/former form tutor (who left actually on friday) worked for IBM and played a very big role in the creation of the desktop drive - he and his team of 35 people basically made home computers happen :)
 
Awsome pics...Amazing how everything still looks and functions similar to a phonograph, or record player. Too bad Edison's family can't collect royalties.
