My home network uses an XP system as the server and has two win 98 machines
also connected to a hub. All configurations went smoothly with the wizzard
disk generated by XP a year ago. Now I want to add a laptop also win 98. I
can't get the wizzard to complete because it says the hardware is not present
after the required reboot. I think the wizzard tries to finish prior to
windows finding the PCMCIA card and thus the network connection. I can ping
the card and get response and all the lights flash but can't ping anything
else. I tried setting a static address with no success. Is a different
nework client or TCP/IP protocol installed by this wizzard disk? Am I
missing files because the wizzard fails to finish? If so how do I work
arround this?

I'd ask in a Windows 98 newsgroup how to install the required
stuff without using the wizard.
