PCI USR modem hangs on old BIOS

Just want to know if anyone has had the experience of a new OEM USR PCI 56k
modem hanging up the computer with an older motherboard. tried modem with
two different older asus and AMI bios.

Always need to be careful with plug-and-play PCI modem cards and the
system resources they might utilize. USR PCI modems have a predilection
for COM3 and could cause a problem over IRQ4 when SerPort1 might
still be active in bios setup.
