You could start by actually reading the users manual. If the system
is old enough that you can find it chances are nearly 100% that a PCI
express won't work.
The motherboard will have a PCI Express X16 expansion slot, and the power
supply will have a dedicated PCI Express power cord with a 6-pin connector
on it.
But if you have to ask, then I'm 99.99% certain that your computer doesn't
support PCI Express. -Dave
You would have to own one of the latest motherboards that SPECIFICALLY says
it can.
