An overwhelming majority of us want Susan to stay and keep on doing the
PL web site.

Susan wants that too.

If possible we would also like to keep the domain pricelessware.org
because it has become known to others.

There must be a way to achieve this.

The problem is that Genna is not as bright and mature as I thought
earlier. She published a message yesterday which showed very bad timing,
trying to open up the can of worms we all tried to get away from, the
old discussion about the problems between Genna and Susan.
Only minutes after Susan had returned.
Luckily nobody even replied to that message.

Genna has sent the necessary information needed to handle the
pricelessware.org domain to SoS.

I wonder if it would not be possible to send this information to Susan
too? Or does Genna see Susan as more unreliable than SoS?

Another option could be that Susan gets to work on the PL web site
elsewhere but the result is automatically mirrored at pricelessware.org.
This can surely be fixed technically with some scripting done by
somebody in acf who knows such stuff.
If there are two pricelessware sites, like pricelessware.nu and
pricelessware.org, that is no problem, it would look just like an extra
backup on the web.

Well, anyway, let's remember the most important things we know now:

1: An overwhelming majority of us want Susan to stay and keep on doing
the PL web site.

2: Susan wants that too.

3: If possible we would also like to keep the domain pricelessware.org
active because it has become known to others.

Let's find a way to achieve this.

Initially I thought your approach was even-handed but this sudden
castigation of Genna is not at all helpful. Assigning blame is not
going to solve the core problem.

Exactly. But that has been the point of these threads. To blame Genna.
If Susan wants to do her version of the PL site then there is nothing
stopping her. If anyone wants the old domain name then a polite email
to Genna might have got things moving.

When John Corliss, and I, both did a F.A.Q. for this group we didn't
need to denigrate each other. We simply "did our own thing" on two
different sites.

Regards, John.

I wondered about that mirror idea. Not being conversant in website
mechanics perhaps it's a naive or totally unworkable idea.

Thanks for posting this. It's a good example of why this Pricelessware
site location dispute must be resolved soon.
If one of the purposes of this group is to further the use and
development of freeware, then getting more people to see and use the
Pricelessware website should be a priority. What a shame it would be
if the site moved and all those who read about it in PC World were not
able to find it.

Easy, all it takes is for Genna and SOS to still offer the
domain to host the nomination results in some forms of their
liking (or our liking if they want to ask for opinions). And
it won't harm to have both Susan also host the nomination
results in a different format. The can list the link to the
other site

(e.g., there can be a line on both sites saying: to see the
Pricelessware nomination results in a different format, you
can also go to: [other sites that have the information])......

In fact, this will certainly ease the traffic of having just
one site. If the results of Pricelessware become a more
popular seeked information, mirror of this kind would be
helpful.

True. And we could have localizations in other languages.

They have in the past. I see no reason to suspect that they
won't do this in the future. :)
