PC Wake up from S3 or S4 mode

Does anyone know if Defender will wake the PC up from S3 or S4 mode to action
the scheduled scan? Doesn't seem to be any mention of it, nor does XP
Scheduled task manager show Defender as a scheduled task. At least I would
have thought that any MS scheduled task would have used the XP scheduler. Is
Defender going to turn out to be a camel instead of a race horse.

Not unless it needs gallons of water to function and likes residing in the
desert! A thoroughbred would be more descriptive :)

couldn't spell thoroughbred, so left the word out.
Camels are the results of a commitee/team that can't make it's mind up what
components to use. A throroughbred racehorse is the experts single minded
result, if you get my drift.

I don't know the answer to the question as posted.

I do know, however, and have posted in announcements and some other
group--how to use scheduled tasks to schedule a scan--the command line
\program files\windows defender\mpcmdrun.exe is what you need--run it for
syntax info.

So--whether or not the program does this on its own--you can do it, and set
the task to wake the machine.
