PC Suddenly Gone Back in Time a Few Years (MS Framework induced?)

Hiya,

This isn't really a drastic problem as such, but it is really doing m
head in.

Background; In order to create some karaoke files I'd got hold of
needed to download Microsoft Frameworks - This was apparently needed t
work in conjunction with MP3+G Toolz.

After installing and using MP3+G Toolz on the files, I turned off m
computer and left it for the night. The following morning I turned i
on and was confused to discover a log on screen. (I only have on
profile so it usually skips straight to the desktop.) Something tha
confused me even more was that the log on screen resembled more
pre-SP1/2 (or even Win98) style plain grey box as opposed to the jazz
one I've grown used to.

When I got into my main profile, I noticed that the image next to th
name in the startup menu had gone, as well as a new user - asp.net
created in the User Accounts page. There were a few other difference
I'd mentally noted down... but I've forgotten them. Sorry.

I deleted the asp.net profile and forgot about it. However, while goin
through my general business, it suddenly came to my attention that som
of the software I usually use normally had been playing up; Nero ha
burnt four bad disks when it usually works perfectly. These could b
coincidence, but I thought I should just mention it.

This morning I decided to re-install SP2 and see if that would help. I
didn't.

As I said, this isn't a major problem like "My PC takes control of m
mouse and proceeds to verbally abuse me" but I would appreciate it ver
much if someone could help me out. I feel like I've gone back in time
few years.

Cheers.

Nb - I apologise if this is a 'one click' fix.
