PC not accessible... Network Path not found

Rob

I have two PC's on XP Networked but when I try to access
the PC labeled "Compaq" from the other one I get this
message, though it does list it as a PC on my home
network:

\\Compaq is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Contact the administrator
of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.

What can I do? How do I check and grant those
permissions? The PC's are hooked up through a hub. I used
to have the PC Networking when the Compaq PC was on
Windows 98 an the other on XP, but since I installed XP
on the Compaq PC I have not been able to network them.
I'm saying this to establish the fact that the wiring is
ok.

Rob,

please have a look at http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm.

Please have a look also at some subsequent similar questions and

I had the exact same problem & went to Michna's web page

I was fighting this problem for a week, and after 5 minutes on that web page, it was fixed. God bless him.

sarj,

well, thank you very much!

I'm thinking about turning the page into a question-and-answer
tree, but it would be a lot of work. Not sure if I can ever make
it.
