PC Locks up in W2K

Richard

A few months ago I did a clean install of WIn2k pro.
Several weeks ago my pc began to freeze. I looked at the
event viewer and these are some of the messages, can this
be my problem. It seems to especially lock up when using
IE 6. I've installed hot fixes and also Service pack 4.

Event Viewer

Applications
TrueVector engine: "C:\WINNT\Internet Logs\PINE.ldb" was
corrupt and has been copied to "C:\WINNT\Internet
Logs\xDB9A.tmp".
File "C:\WINNT\Internet Logs\PINE.ldb" was corrupt and has
been deleted.
C:\WINNT\Internet Logs\IAMDB.RDB.tmp".

rasctrs: cannot be found. The local computer many not have
the necessary registry information or message DLL files to
display messages from a remote computer. The following
information is part of the event. The event log file is
corrupt.

System
Service Control Manager: The Client Service for NetWare
service terminated with the following error: The parameter
is incorrect.

NWCWorkstation: The Microsoft Client Service for Netware
could not start because it did not bind to any transports.

You've got multiple problems, two of which, the corruption in your Zone
Alarm and event logs, are system crash related. The Novell problem may or
may not be related to file corruption. Based on the limited information
you've related, I'd suggest that you first download your harddisk evaluation
program and run it. You may have a hard disk failing. If the hard disk is
ok, it would seem that your system software has become corrupted and may
need to be reloaded.
