I have a slide show that is set to run automatically. I would like to pause
it occasionally so I can talk about certain things within the show. Is there
a function key or some other way I can pause/unpause at will?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.....

Yup, press the letter "S" to stop it and press it again to resume.

A user tip:

Run your slide show and press F1 to see all the keyboard short cuts.

Here's a fish: press S or + during your show to pause/resume

Here's how to catch more fish yourself: start a slideshow and press F1 for a
handy list of all the other commands you can use.
