Hello

Having worked with databases for some years (dBase) I must now move into the
mainstream.

I am starting to work through "Creating Microsoft Access 2000 Solutions"
which uses a sample database: book.mdb. This has installed itself in
"c:\listings\application", but the application seems to expect to find data
at "d:\final\bookdata.mdb" which is the CD-ROM drive. The CD supplied with
the book does not include a directory named "final".

Can I extricate myself from this problem with my extremely limited knowledge
of Access?

Thanks in advance.

The CD likely includes the bookdata.mdb file somewhere. Locate it and copy
it to c:\listings\application. Having copied the file from the CD it likely
is read-only. Open Windows Explorer, right-click on the file and ensure the
read-only option is unchecked.

Open book.mdb. Go to Tools, Database Utilities, Linked Table Manager.
Select all the tables, put a check at the bottom of the dialog beside
'prompt for new location'. Navigate to bookdata.mdb and click OK.
