How do I change the permanent path in XP Home?

Right Click on My Computer and choose Properties. Choose the Advanced
page, and at the bottom look for the "environment variables" button. Click
this. You'll be shown an Environment Variables page with two sections -
User Variables for <logged on user> and System Variables.

In the System Variables window, highlight the Path line and then choose
Edit. You'll get a sub-window where you can change the path. Click OK
all the way out and you're done - but go to start, run and type cmd. In
teh command window, type "path" <enter> and ensure that the changes you made
have taken effect.
