PATH is reset after reboot in XP Pro SP2

I have a user account at my university that has been given admin access
to a computer I administer at my desk on campus. The strange thing is
that when I change my environment variable PATH with admin rights, it is
still reset to default after reboot.

How can this be?

You posted the same question once before in a different
thread, and received one reply that required some
clarification. You never provided this clarification. Instead
of starting a second thread, you should respond in the
first thread.
