"Patch Package" message

I'm trying to uninstall a unhappy Office Pro (XP)
installation on a Win 00 box and I get a message that
says "the patch package could not be opened. Verify that
the patch exists and that we can access it....."
Anyone have any ideas? We can't seem to reinstall either.

I hate it when Office gets screwed up. Sometimes you have to rip it out.

Call MS and get some help to do a thorough job of removing it. Otherwise
you can try yourself, starting with the MSICUU Cleanup tool:

You will still need to remove Office files, but it preps your machine if it
won't uninstall Office and you need to reinstall.
