Pasting Photos in Word

Guest

Hi Everyone,

I used to use Outlook Express for my email and recently switched to Outlook.
I understand that Outlook used Word to compose all emails. I am having a
problem when I go to past a photo into my emails (using Word). It takes a
long time for the photos to paste, whereas when I used to past photos in
Outlook Express they appeared instantly.

Is there any kind of setting that I can change within Word to expedite the
process of pasting photos and graphics?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

You don't have to use Word as e-mail editor for Outlook. It has a perfectly
good editor of its own. However, where are you pasting these images from?
Save the images to your hard drive and insert them into the document (or
attach them).

As for the delays, my guess is that this is part of the virus checking
measures of your AV software getting in the way. Checking of Word/Office
documents can usually be deselected in the AV program e.g. in Norton AV by
turning off its Office Plug-in.

With some versions of the Norton product it may be necessary to unregister
the calling DLL by running the following command line from Windows > Start >
Run

regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"
or
regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton systemworks\norton
antivirus\officeav.dll"

Other AV apps eg the popular free ediition of Grisoft's AVG antivirus
software, require similar treatment.
In this instance:

regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgoff2k.dll"

Hi,

Thanks so much for your reply.

How can I configure Outlook to not use Word to compose my emails?

Thanks,
Brian

In Outlook 2003, there are check boxes on the Mail Format tab of Tools |
Options.
