Pasting image rearranges whole slide - please help

Nate c.

Hi,

I'm using Powerpoint 2002 SP-2 on an XP system and am having trouble pasting
images into slides. What happens is if I have one or more images already
placed on the slide, if I try to paste another image, the original image(s)
get resized and rearranged and a "click to add title" box shows up. It
seems that some kind of template kicks in and moves the items around to
conform to the template. How to turn this off so I can paste items in
without the whole slide getting screwed up?

Thanks a bunch,
Nate

Go to Tools > Autocorrect Options and on the "Autoformat As You Type"
uncheck "Automatic layout for inserted objects".

By the way, it's best not to paste images on your slides. It's much better
to Insert > Picture > Picture from File. It's explained in:

Don't do this with PowerPoint. Seriously.

Head to Tools/Autocorrect and turn off the autolayout options.

FWIW, this annoyance was removed in PPT 2003, I suspect because so many
people complained they couldn't figure out what the heck was going on and
why PPT was moving stuff around when they inserted pictures! :)
