pasting data from another source into one string, not delimited

Does anyone know of a way to paste data from any other
source, continuously, as one string of data, not delimited
by spaces, commas, or any other way? We used to be able
to do this and then use "Text to Columns", but now
whenever we paste, it automatically sorts everything into
separate columns. Paste-Special works, but we shouldn't
have to do this every time we want to paste a range of
data. Any ideas?

The problem might be the copy option in the source data.
I know when using NS/Elite to copy AS400 data there is an
option to copy as 'Text', 'Bitmap', or 'Table'. By your
comment using Paste-Special works tells me the data might
not be in text format.

If you close excel and restart it, does your paste work ok?

Excel likes to help by remembering the settings you used for your last
Data|text to columns

You can either close excel to make it forget (yechhh!)

or you can select a dummy cell
put something into it
data|text to columns
choose delimited, but uncheck all the delimiters
finish up and clear that dummy cell.
