Paste special not working

V

Vinod

After copying data from one workbook and trying to paste the same in another
work book, i have to use Past special inorder to have the values accuratley
pastes as "values". So i usually right click on the cell from where i would
want to paste the entire information, and select "paste special" which gives
an other dialog box "Paste Special", in which i have the labels, Paste, and
Operation, Under which i have radio options to select. I select "values"
under Past and then click on Okay, to have the paste operation performed
successfully.

However, The same action does not give me a dialog box "paste special", but
leaves me with another dialog box, whhich does not have any of the options,
and just asks me to select either paste or pastelink, and the list beside the
two radio buttons contains "BMP,CSV,...... and many more."

What do i do?

You can only do the kind of Paste Special you want if you are using one
instance of Excel. When you are doing this between two instances of Excel
you get a different options. Try the "Microsoft Excel 8.0 format" option.
It seems to result in a Values paste although with formats.

hi
you may also have on the clipboard something other than text or formula.
some type of object such as a bit map or other. paste on a black sheet and
see what you get.
