Not in Plain text (Readable format). What happens when you
access the site and click into the username box - does it auto-fill
or present your username as a selection >?
Most on-line accounts have "Forgotten Your Password" option
that just requires your email address to send/change password.

It is not a website. It is a program installed on my computer called "steam"
it allows me to play certain games on the internet. I hvae tried the
forgotten password option but i have forgotten the answer to my secret
question so i was just wondering if there was a way to recover the password.

You can contact Valve, but the Steam members of my household say if you
can't remember your password or the answer to your secret question you
are probably SOL.

Here's the url for Steam support:

Good luck,

They're right.
I had too many people wanting to log in to my Half-Life 2 so I created a
dummy account for the demo so people could play with it.
I used a random password pasted from a text file for the dummy account and
never bothered to memorize it. As was bound to happen, someone used
cut/paste instead of copy/paste. There was no way to recover the password
after the pc was rebooted, and Valve simply suggested I reinstall and create
a new account.
