Passwords won't save

I wonder if anyone can help me. My passwords for Outlook Express, msn, and
all of my favorite sites, are never saved. I'm prompted by Explorer to save
the password, I check yes, yet, they are never saved and have to be
re-entered each and every time. (same applies to Outlook, I've gone to tools,
accounts, properties, and have checked to save password) Any Help??? thx

See the following website for a possible fix:

May want to read the referenced MS Knowledge Base article at the end of
that page for more information about this problem.

Thankyou very much it worked for Outlook!, however, explorer still won't
remember any other passwords. In fact it won't remember any other prompt as
well i.e. when a prompt box opens with the option of not being shown again,
and it is checked...........it will still prompt when the situation arises.
Thanks again for your kind help........tama

Well, partial success anyhow. Let's see if we can tidy up the rest of
this...

If the remaining places are web sites, they may be set up to challenge you
to re-enter your credentials (password or username/password). Several of
the private sites that I visit are setup that way. Even my ISP will let me
"log on" with a cookie to view my home page but a second login (that I have
to type out) is required to access other areas of the service. This is
setup on the server side of things. There's nothing in Internet Explorer
that can help with these forced logons. Either type in the info or get one
of those password managing programs that will enter the info for you.

There are a few other things that you can check too:

*The password store in Internet Explorer can become corrupt. In that case,
the usual advice is to dump its contents. You lose everything that's stored
but get to start "fresh." To do this, use Internet Options> Content>
AutoComplete. On the screen that appears, click the necessary options to
empty what is already stored. Close IE (if it isn't already). The next time
you launch the program, it should start remembering passwords again.

*Cookies corrupt: Access your Cookies folder and delete the cookies for the
passworded sites. You'll have to type in username/password for sites that
store this info in this manner but will get a new cookie for the next
visit.

*Accidental deleting of cookies: A lot of the anti-spyware programs,
privacy programs and internet security programs include the option to
delete cookies. If you do not delete these selectively, you may be dumping
cookies that are storing username/password information. This in turn breaks
your ability to automatically logon to those sites. If the program involved
does not allow you to delete on a per cookie/per site basis, then disable
the option.

Instead use Windows Explorer (open to \Documents and Settings\<your
account>\Cookies\ OR use Internet Options> General Temporary Internet
Files> Settings> View. From either of those windows you can manually delete
unwanted cookies.
