Password requests

Guest

I am constantly being asked for my password and network name and yet all is
well as I can click on send and receive in Outloot without failure but then
when working in Word or somewhere else a box appears to ask me to confirm my
password. If I am not looking at the screen then i have typed my dialogue
into the password box and have to erase and rewrite the correct password. If
I not here then when i come i notice that I have a failure on one of my
addresses but if I click on send or receive all is well?
I have just checked for similar questinos on here and found this one.

Question
Subject: How do I stop "Enter Network Password" from interrupting me?
11/4/2005 2:41 PM PST

By: AUBITE In: microsoft.public.outlook.general

In Outlook 2002 and 2003 set to perform a send/receive every few minutes I
have begun to get interrupting requests for Enter Network Password with
prefilled boxes for (1) server, (2) user name, and (3) password. If I click
OK all is well for a few minutes and then I get the same request over and
over again. How can I stop this? Have been using OL 2002 and 2003 for many
months without this problem

It seems to be a common thing and i suspect the same as AUBITE that it has
started since an update. Is this possible. As nobaody has answered his
question i am a little sceptical?

Thanks
Charlie

What happens if you increase your send/receive interval to 10 minutes or
more? Contrary to popular belief, constant mail polling (every 2 minutes)
does nothing for your mail flow and can cause the servers to hiccup, lose
your password, or simply fail. Besides, can you really read an email in 2
minutes, digest its importance, deal with it and then move on to the next
email in 2 minutes?

Hi:

I'm having Charlie's problem. I too increased the interval to 10 minutes
but with no result. This didn't happen before the last few days and I've not
had any new upgrades installed.

Thanks.

Greetings

We are having a similar problem, that appears to be occurring with greater
frequency. In Outlook 2003, SP1, it keeps popping up with the dialoge box
asking for the password. Checking the box "remember password" has had no
effect. I currently poll for new mail every 15 minutes.

Granted, it does not do this everytime it sends&recieves, but it occurs
daily. More of a minor inconvenience, but I seem to remember a similar
problem with Outlook Express not remembering passwords.

TIA for any suggestions.

Has anyone found a fix for this problem? We are having the same problem,
with the popups happening more and more frequently. Any help would be
appreciated

I too have the same problem of Enter Network Password popups. I have not
been able to receive emails for the past five days. I just received another
one while I was typing this! It seems to show up in any mode I am in.

I'm having this annoying problem too. What I'd like to add to this
discussion is that although I'm new to Outlook, I used to use ACT contact
management software, and it involved setting up its own "Internet Mail" or
one could go thru Outlook Express. I used to get that same "Enter Network
Password" dialogue box popping up over and over everytime I sent mail that
way through act. I would simply click cancel, everything worked fine, but the
same box would reappear about once per minute. For this reason I don't know
that it's the result of any new modifications, because this goes back at
least two years, and even on another computer. I don't know what the common
reason is that we all have to suffer that interruption, but if this extra
info helps anyone figure it out, please let us know!
What is confusing to me is WHAT SERVER the box is referring to? Perhaps the
Pop-mail listed there that seems correct in fact isn't the server they're
looking for? I'm thinking overall windows account logon, my logon to my home
network's router, my logon to my company website that I'm accessing to
send/receive mail. Aren't all of these servers? If the wrong info got into
the top box, perhaps that could be a reason? I sure hope someone solves this,
it is almost a dealbreaker for this switch to outlook.

Hi,

Even if you forget the password for the encrypted PST file, you can still decrypt it by using Advanced Outlook Repair. Advanced Outlook Repair can decrypt all the encrypted data and convert it into a new PST file that doesn't require a password. You can visit http://www.datanumen.com/aor/problems/outlook-password.htm to get more detailed information.

http://www.datanumen.com/aor/ contains detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair.

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe
