Password protection of outlook 2002 Folders (how strong is the encryption?)

I have a laptop where I would like to protect the contents of my
e-mail in case of laptop theft. Does the password protection for
outlook 2002 folders provide reasonably strong encryption?

Probably not. It's weak enough that there are PST password cracking programs available on the Internet.
