We have several PCs that have to have an admin account. This gives them
access to use MMC. I am looking for a way to have MMC only open with a
password.
Or can anyone come up with a way so MMC can only be ran by certen admin users?

While i am asking, I can remove everything from the start menu except
Programs. I can remove all listings so it is empty but i would like to remove
Programs from the list. Any ideas?

Thanks, dueyx

There is not built in way to require a password for starting mmc. You can
use Group Policy - user configuration/administrative templates/Windows
components/Microsoft management console to configure allowed mmc snapins if
any for users. Keep in mind that domain/OU level Group Policy user
configuration will apply only when a user logs on as a domain user and that
a local administrator could create a local account to logon to if they know
how and were so inclined which would bypass domain level Group Policy for
user configuration.

There is a Group Policy setting to remove programs from the start menu but
it will only work on XP Pro/W2003 computer and it is under user
configuration/administrative templates/start menu and task bar. --- Steve
