password protect/hide custom views

Does anyone know of a way to password protect various views under custom
views? I have a price list with different custom views such as
Distributor prices and wholesale prices. I am afraid that if I email
the file to a distributor, they will be able to go under custom views
and bring up the wholesale prices. The various views are based on
hidden columns.
I already password protected each page so that they can't unhide the
hidden columns but then relealized that someone could bypass that by
going under custom views.

thank You,
Judy

Worksheet protection is easily cracked. Do not send the distributor a
file that contains any information that you don't want them to see.
Create a copy of the file, and delete all the columns that are
confidential. Send that copy to the distributor.

Custom Views cannot be shown on a Protected worksheet so you should have no
problems with that but..........

There are many password crackers out there and sheet protection is one of the
easier ones to crack.

Also, someone could just CRTL + A to copy the cells and paste to another
worksheet then unhide the columns.

I would have two versions. One for the Distributor without the wholesale
prices and one for my use.

You should look into a utility to create PDF files.

Send the PDF file instead of the spreadsheet. I use Jaws PDF Creator;
it is much cheaper than Acrobat and even allows you to set security
options like no printing, no copying, etc. It sets up as a printer
and you can create a PDF file from any program.

Once a workbook is open it is extremely easy to crack an Excel sheet
password.

Prove it yourself by doing a Google search. Might take a little effort,
but you will soon find the VB code for free.
