Boot the machine with your WinXP CD and follow the prompts.
There is no need for a password.

Sorry i did not mean the windows xp cd asked for a password the boot menu did
it did not let me boot from the windows xp cd unless i enter the password.

Are you talking about a password for XP or a password for the BIOS. "DEL"
sound like one of several common keys used to enter the BIOS setup.
Normally you would not need to change any BIOS settings for a clean install
of XP, unless maybe the PC is set to boot from hard drive before CD.

If a BIOS password, they can usually be cleared by either removing the
battery for a while, or by using a jumper for a while. But, do not guess.
Contact the PC make for advice. At least, chekc their support website. If
not a major brand, then try to determine the motherboard and seek advice on
the support site for that motherboard.

Sounds like a bios password, is this a laptop or desktop, if desktop you can
disable the bios password by jumpering the proper jumpers on the Motherboard,
or removing the MB battery, if laptop it's a bit harder, there are utilities
to wipe laptop passwords, do a search.

There's no need to know or use a password if your plan is to perform a
clean installation.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
