Password Managers

There's been some discussion about a replacement for (I think it's)
RoboForm, the password manager. A recent newsletter recommended
AccountLogon from http://www.accountlogon.com/ as an alternate to
RoboForm, while another recent newsletter recommended KeyWallet from
http://www.keywallet.com/. Both are freeware, which is apparently a
problem with RoboForm since it's no longer free.

I just downloaded and installed AccountLogon, but really haven't used it
yet. I will eventually compare it with KeyWallett, and maybe others.
However, if anybody has tried either or both of these (or other password
managers), please share your opinions. Other points of view really help.

Thanks!

pwsafe: URL: http://www.passwordsafe.com/
My personal preference. Fast loading, robust
and contains all the features I require. Also,
easy to use.

oubliette: URL: http://tranglos.com
Slower loading than pwsafe. More features.
Easy to use and robust.
When I upgraded my computer, oubliette would
not recognise my password on the new machine.
However, it has an "export as CSV" file
so all was not lost.

Both write to a file which can be backed up.

Beware of any which rely on database software.
If the database software is upgraded or you
upgrade your computer, you may find that you
can't read the passwords! This is a case where
KISS is best.

Hi Steve,
I went to the trouble of downloading AccountLogon some time ago and found
the "free" version so restricted as to be almost useless. The site gives the
impression of offering freeware and it's only when you work through the
small print that you find:

"Do I have to Register?
No, you do not have to register your copy of AccountLogon. However, if you
register you will have access to all the extra features."

Registration costs $25! Shareware by any other name and dishonest in not
making that more clear!

I'm currently using Password Agent Lite which holds up to 25 different
entries.

I use PINs and highly recommend it. It's simple, appears safe, and I like
it's Superpaste feature: you can select an account, go to a web form and
press Ctrl+Y and it will automatically fill in user/pwd and press enter
