Unless a Password Reset Disk was made beforehand, all you
can do is see if the following will help:

| Any idea which file contains all the passwords of users? In Windows NT
| 4 it was SAM but haven't got a clue if it is still the same. I need to
| replace this file with the one which contains the passwords (especially
| the administrator's/power user's) so that I could do some admin task on
| a machine which no one seems to be able to login.
|
| I am trying to avoid reformatting of the hard disk and reinstalling XP.
| I can use BartPE (can be googled) which allows me to manipulate the
| files on NTFS system.
|
| Thanks for any help from MVPs.
