We have a company notebook (Win2K Professional) which gets used by several
people outside of the office & I've now been asked to get it onto our
network. When I boot, there is "administrator" in password, some asterisks
in the password field but I get the message:
"The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name & domain are
correct, then type your password again....."
When I try to change the settings in the properties in TCP/IP, however, I
get the message:
"In order to configure TCP/IP, you must install and enable a network
adapter card"
When I do an ipconfig from the command prompt I am told there is a 3Com
Ethernet Adapter & I am given a physical address, also 'device manager'
shows the 3com card.
Why can I not change the TCP settings to get the notebook onto our network,
is it because I don't have administrator rights or is it some other reason?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jason.
