partitions?

Having upgraded from an old pc, i was wondering what the advantage of having
a hard drive partitioned was? Mine is divided into C and D, with C doing the
majority of the work. Can I save new programs to D instead to stop C filling
up?

Thanks

Hi there Balky,

Having seperate partitions is highly advantageous. Maintain C for your
operating system and program files, and then the seperate D partition for
your data (ie-My Documents, etc.) I usually have my users retarget their
Document directories to a seperate partition. (Right Click on My Documents,
Click on Properties, Change the Target path.). This way, if you have to
reload your operating system for any reason, you will more than likely retain
all of your data, provided you don't delete the partitions.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

~Will
