Partitions confused

Chris

I put in a single new 160Gig Hard drive .
I partitioned it 20Gig and 140Gig
I want the OS on the 20Gig partition .
First time I ran XP install there was a problem finding a file .
Second time it worked fine .

First problem is every time I boot I am offered the choice between 2 OSs :
both Windows XP .
How do I get rid of one of these ?
Must be some sort of remnant of the failed first install attempt ?

Second Problem .
When Windows explorer looks at the disk , the large partition is listed
firstly .
"C:/ My big data partition
D:/ my would be windows and boot partition "

Seems very odd .
Isn't this going to give rise to problems when I start to load on programs
?

Hi,

You can't change the drive structure and labels with Windows installed, you
will need to start over. Wipe the drive, then create only the destination
partition during setup. The rest of the drive can be partitioned and
formatted after the installation has completed.
