I have 160 gig hard drive and would like to make a 30 gig
partion. Disk manager says to right click in an
unallocated space on the drive I want to partition.
Guess what, there is no unallocated space on drive C:
that I can right click on. Any suggestions.
Windows XP
2.53g cpu
256m ram
160g hard drive

XP doesnt need the third party junk when it already has
partitioning utilitys.
Go to run,type:cmd
At the curser type:DiskPart
In DiskPart type:HELP
The unallocated space is if you had a partition(s) and
had free space unformated, then you could create a new
partition(s) or volume(s),but if the space is on the os
it cant be divided into new.Youd have to use recovery,
boot from xp cd,then create the partition(s) or leave
some unformated(unallocated space)keep youre 100.00
learn xps utilitys,try command-line refrence A-Z from
microsoft.

First off, Partition Magic 8 can be found for less than $25.
Second, the built in partition capabilities of XP are JUNK.
Third party partition tools can do more, faster, and easier than
anything built into windows.
Like a good virus scanner.....Partition Magic 8 is a good investment.

BUT.....there are also good FREE utilities available if money is a
problem. A simple search with Google will find them.
