Partitioned drives

I have a C & D drive, partitioned. Is it possible to make them into 1, C drive, without reformating?

Assuming you are referring to a single physical drive that
you have partitioned you could do this with a program like
Partition Magic.

Hello

One word of good ADVICE, you may want to just back-up
your important DATA before doing that, just so you don't loose
anything and for your own safety. But yes Partition Magic
will allow you to do that

Hi

You can try Partition magic 8.0 from powerquest.com
But why you want to be one single partition
Unless the C drive is too small (less than 15GB), I would suggest you to keep the second partition
Save all your data files to the D drive and the C drive is for the OS and applications

I agree entirely!!! Keep the D drive and use it for data. You can use
tweakui to move your document folders, temp internet files, favorites, etc.
to the d drive.

Assuming that the partitions are big enough, why would you want to put the
data on one and os and apps on the other?

Because you can format C: and reinstall a damaged OS without
any data loss. I would put the applications in C: along
with the OS because you'll have to reinstall anyway to keep
the registry working properly. But the data will be safe on
D:,...M:...Z: You use TweakUI to move My DOCS, use OE
Option/Maintenance to move the mail storage etc. It is very
easy after you make the original setup. And far more
secure.

Would be a lot better if D was another physical disk. Then copies of the
data could be kept on both disks in the event of a hard disk failure.

That is true, but not everybody has an extra $50-150 for a
second disk. And a partitioned disk is better than a single
partition IMHO.
