I installed windows 2000 on a machine that already have windows 98. The
win2k was installed in a different partition. Now I like to uninstall win2k
and let the machine run only win98. How do I uninstall win2k? When I boot
to win98, I cannot see win2k harddrive.

What is partition magic, can you please explain what I need to do?

Thanks
.

When you installed W2k, you must have formatted the
partition for NTFS, which is incomptible with Windows 9x.

Partition Magic is third-party software that let's you
manipulate your partitions - resizing, deleting, etc.

You're rather vague with your disk drive letters.
Which drive is Win98 on? Where is Win2000?

If Win2000 is located on a primary partition
then you can delete that partition with fdisk.exe
while running Windows 98.

If Win2000 is located on a logical drive then you
can delete that partition with delpart.exe
(free at http://www.russelltexas.com/delpart.htm).

Partition Magic from PowerQuest can do it too
but it costs money. It seems a bit of an overkill
for a simple problem like yours.

Pegasus,
I think I just messed up my laptop. Prior to getting this message, I messed with the boot.ini file in win98. Now I cannot boot the laptop on win98. I can only boot to win2k. Please help I just want to get rid of win2k at this point

Thanks

- Boot with a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com.
- Type this command:
sys c:
- Reboot the machine. It will launch Win98.
