Urgently need help!! I've got a 120Gb hard disk with 3 partitions as
follows. Partition 1=20Gb Windows XP OS, Partition 2=50Gb of important
data, Partition 3=50Gb important data. When I use Partition Magic 8 to Merge
partition 2 and 3 together, the process fails. But the problem is Partition
Magic has removed my partition information from Windows Registry and I
cannot use Window Explorer to see the data anymore because the Partition
information has been removed from the registry. But Partition Magic browser
tells me that the data is still there. But I cannot access the data. Because
it is no longer visible. How do I unhide/recovered the data on Partition 2
and 3 when it dissappear even though not erase?? Please help me urgently
before all my data dissappear.. Thank you. Is there product such as undelete
or hard disk data recovery???

This would probably be best answer by Partition Magic tech support. But,
first have you tried the advanced command on Partition Magic that allows
to unhide partitions (assuming the missing partition has been hidden).
Then, Partition Magic has the ability, I believe, to reverse the last
change or to undelete a partition. But since I am still at the #7
version (having heard about bugs in 8, I stick to this trusted version),
I cannot be more specific.

Then, an easy one: check in Admistrative Tools, Disk Management. Your
partition might show there and it might just need to be assigned a drive
letter (right click on partition, add).

Good luck

This isn't a registry issue. Send your drive to one of the data recovery
specialists.

It is not a registry isssue -- that information is not stored there.

IFRC, partition data is stored in the boot blocks of the hard drive. There
should be a way to fix this. You might research using FIXBOOT and/or FIXMBR
from Recovery Console using the XP CD.

Get some advice from someone more familiar with this than I am, but you
should be able to recover your data without resorting to an expensive
commercial recovery service. In any event, FIXBOOT and FIXMBR shouldn't
damage the actual partitions themselves.

Good Luck!

If unhidding the partition doesn't work you colud try
using the Partition Magic recovery disk's you created when
you installed the program, you did create them right?

There is a tool that can be installed from the OS CD located in the
support\tools folder.
Run the setup.exe and choose complete.
Now this is tool should not be used by a novice. The name of the tool
after you run the setup program is dskprobe.exe. You can use this tool to
re-creat the partition table information.
If you need assistance in using the tool, you need to call support.
Keep in mind that damage may have already been done that is irrepariable.
