parameter value not valid error in Outlook

Trying to enter new contact name in Outlook 2003. Get error message of one or
more parameter values are not valid.

I get the same message when trying to import or export also.
 
You'd need to provide at least some information.
Has Outlook ever worked? If so, what steps produced this error? Are you
using Exchange Server or a local information store?
There are innumerable causes for this error.
