Can anyone tell me how to turn on those light gray border markings that show
when making labels (like Avery)? Somehow one of my users has lost them.

or in Word 2007
with the cursor in the table Layout 'View Gridlines'

They're called "gridlines". On the Table menu, click Show Gridlines.
