Parallel connection established, cannot see host files

I have two notebooks, one new and one old, running XP Pro.
I want to transfer just a few big files from the old PC to
the new one. To do this, I bought a file transfer parallel
cable that I can plug into both PCs. I am able to set up
an "advanced connection" on each PC using the LPT ports,
setting the old PC as the host ("incoming connection") and
the new one as the client. When I double click on the
connection on the client PC, the connection appears to be
established, since a small networking icon then appears in
the bottom right corner of each PC stating a speed of
4Mbps. So far, so good.

However, I expected to be able to see in Windows Explorer
on the client PC an icon (or something) for the host PC,
which I could then use to drag-and-drop files from the
host to the client. Instead, I see no mention/list of the
host PC's contents. I have looked at the sharing settings
for the relevant folders on the host PC, and this is
enabled.

How do I actually select and copy files between the PCs,
assuming the connection is indeed established? I have
tried using Files and Settings Transfer Wizard on top of
the parallel connection, but this does not work. That
Wizard may be too complicated anyway, since I am
interested in simply transferring just a few large files
and none of my settings.

Thanks, Curt

Curt-

I had that problem before too. The way that i was able to
solve it was by using the search application and then
searching for the computer. Of course for this to work i
had to type in the name of the computer that i had to
assign for it, when i selected the computer from the
search results, the computer's files were shown in a
windows explorer and from there i was able to copy,
transfer, them over to my new one
