Paper size changes mysteriously

Living in Norway I have A4 paper as my default in the printer. When I paste
text into Word from a different, non MS, application, the paper size changes
to Letter. What is strange is that this happens even if Word was not opened
while I was copying the information. Any ideas on how to keep this from
happening?

The page setup information is contained in the final paragraph mark of what
you are pasting.

paper size is a section property in Word. That makes it pretty hard for
a foreign application to change it (when you select a section break in
another Word document and copy it, that's another story).

Try a Paste Special (text-only), that should make it next to impossible
for any section properties to change upon you.

The below did not help. When I clicked on the the clipboard icon that
appears after the last paragraph it did give me the option to use the format
of the standard document template in my machine instead of the formating
coming from the source of the paste. It did the font type and size, but the
paper was letter not A4. The post below yours did work, pasting only text,
but you can not use the keyboard shortcuts, which I use since I am so old
that my experience with computers goes back to pre mouse days!

see the following post about how to create a macro that executes a
"paste as text only" command.

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.word.docmanagement/msg/4cfe8af12db7fbbe?hl=en&

You can then put that macro on any shortcut you like.
