PAL_INDEXED and PAL_BGR/PAL_RGB

Could anyone explain it for me aside from the basic
explanation in the DDK, on how the PAL_INDEXED and
PAL_BGR differ when used in EngCreatePalette?

Say, how many colors do they return?
Or what purpose should they be used?
