Paint: There is not enough memory or resources to complete operation

Hi.
I get the above popup when I launch paint.
However, there's a lot of free memory and no other application complains.
Is this a known problem? Is there a fix?
TIA
 
If you do Start | Run | mspaint | OK | OK you get this error? Try it with nothing else running right after boot.
