Paid Time Off Year-in-review summary

I capture PTO in 4 separate tables, that I then combine onto a form and
employee summary report via queries. My problem is that my colleagues are
now looking for a year-in-review summary similar to the following:
1 2 3 4 5 6
Jan V V
Feb S
March
etc.

Is there any way to do this? FYI...the time off is entered with beginning
and ending dates (i.e., 5/4/09 to 5/8/09 - 40 hrs).

The short answer is by using a crosstab query in your report. You don't say
what 1 2 3 4 5 6 are and are there more of them? Days of the month,
perhaps? Empoyee id's? If that doesn't work, then the best way I have
found is by making a subreport for each column.

It would, in fact, be very helpful to have details of what data you have,
the tables in which you store it, and the query with which you retrieve it.
Giving just an example without description of what the items are isn't much
help for anyone here to help you beyond the guess at what you might be able
to do that Robert posted.

Sorry...I tend to assume that people are inside my head and know what I'm
thinking. In my sample grid, the numbers across the top are indeed days of
the month. I have a feeling that the way I've setup my tables will prevent
me from being able to create a query/report in the format I need.

I have 4 separate tables (vacation, sick, personal, other), which have
lookup fields for type (ie., vacation earned, vacation taken, etc.), ask for
a begin and an end date, and a total of hours (i.e., 5/4/09, 5/8/09, 40).
This makes for easy entry on my form, and for the generation of summary
reports by employee.

I'm trying to come up with something that would be a visual snap shot of all
time off taken, by month (similar to the vacation planners that a majority of
company's put out).
