Paid for Upgrade thru download. Please help!

Hello everyone,

I've chosen the path of Marketplace's download of Vista Ultimate. I paid my
fee and completed the download. When I go to install the software, I get the
following:

"Cannot extract Windows Vista Setup to your hard drive. Please ensure that
you can create files and folders in the same folder where VistaSetupPrep.exe
was downloaded."

I'm tired everything. I've reloaded XP Pro/SP2 and I have all the required
hardware needs. I get the error after I hit the install button in Microsoft's
Digital Locker, and it opens up a small screen as start to do something, only
to give me this error. I really appreciate all your help!

Bryan

I go the exact same error. I've contacted Microsoft, Circuit City, and
Digital Locker and have got no where. By any chance did you get the 64-bit
version? What type of processor does your computer have? Just trying to
figure out where the problem is since no one else has an answer at this time.
Hopefully someone will find a solution to this problem. There are others
experiencing the same thing.

Good Luck

thanks! i do have the 64-bit one, and a 64-bit processor. i just don't
understand how we could pay $259 for a product, it not work, and Microsoft
not have answers! I'm die hard Microsoft, but seeing all these probs people
are having, and all this with a five year build-up, make me worry just a bit
about where Microsoft is headed. If Bill where reading all these probs, he'd
be shiting his pants; well, I'd hope so at least :) anyways, i've tried
reloading XP Pro/SP2, re-downloading the OS, giving myself all rights to all
the install folders. i did call Microsoft, talks for hours, and their fix
was, "we can ship you the disc for a cost of s/h." WHAT!!!! it that not the
point of doing a download version. not having to wait for shipping of the
disc or driving to the store. Wow! so, i will keep you posted for sure if i
find anything out. -D
