I have heard about placing the pagefile on a seperate
partittion by itsself to help with performance and to
reduce defrag.

Is it worth while?

This will make your computer run slower, not faster, as the read/write heads
will be forever bouncing between your system partition and your paging file.
Won't do much for the life of your hard disk either. Now if you have a
second hard disk and you put at least some of the paging file there, you can
realize slightly improved performance, depending on what type of apps you
typically use.
