I am setting up Norton speedisk and want to place my
Pagefile/swap/virtual memory at the front of my disk. Does
any one know the extention to use? All I hav found on the
MS intel. pages is pagefile.sys. Any assistnace
appreciated.
The page file in Windows XP is named pagefile.sys.
If your computer is actually using the page file (that is moving
active memory pages from RAM to the page file so that RAM can be used
for other, currently more important functions; and then later
reloading those pages from the page file to RAM because they are
needed again) to such an extent that the location of the file on the
hard drive is going to have a measurable impact on overall performance
then what you really need to do is to add more RAM to the computer.
That will eliminate, or at least reduce, the amount of page file
activity that occurs and have a very beneficial impact on overall
performance.
Good luck
