Page ranking by Google and Alexa, which is more reliable and authentic?

I am thinking that a page ranking of one company's website would represent
its fame. and I wonder whichever offers the ranking is more reliable, Google
or Alexa?

Not really an item for this newsgroup... but search engines make up
their own ways of how to rank stuff. Usually they do not clarify how
they do this to stop people from reaching the high ranks easily by
abusing this knowledge.

Google for one is said to take the number of links to your site (from
other sites!!) into account.

But anyways... if you search for these things you can find entire
discussions about how search engines rank sites.

Depends on whose page and what fiddling with the rankings have been done
by outside sources or biased interests. In other words, the ranking
means nothing/zip/nada/zilch.
