How do I start with page 1 in the middle of a presentation skipping the first
few pages?
 
You can hide the first few slides (Slide Show > Hide Slide). They will stay
in your presentation (you'll see them while in edit mode) but not be
"viewable" in slide show mode.
 
thanks sandy but the problem is that we want to start the page numbering
after the first 4 slides. The first 4 slides should have no numbers and the
4th slide should start with 1.
 
Create a custom show out of the slides you want to use (Slide Show > Custom
Show).

To view the show, click Slide Show > Set up Show. Under Show Slide, select
the Custom Show you want to run.

To print the show, click File > Print. Under Print Range select the Custom
Show you want to print.
